Just like Linux is free, so are some of the books. I found this list fascinating and wanted it to share with others here.

The top of the list of free Linux books? That's right, The Ubuntu Pocket guide.

Also a very interesting book is now free for the download called "After The Software Wars" by Keith Curtis. Anyway, good reading!

While looking through some of the other sections of the forum I thought it might be a good idea to post this message in, maybe, the absolute beginners forum. There is some really good and easy to understand stuff here.

For me there is no substitute for books (paper and pen). E-books are great but a often alien to my learning style.

I'm working on creating a Linux give-away promotion for next year as Program Director of one of my college's radio stations. The Guide to Managing Media and Public Relations in the Linux Community is definitely going to be of use in this regard :)

Don't Linux books go out-of-date very quickly?

If things are constantly changing, what you "buy" may not be relevant in today's Linux.

Real *nix books never go out of style. Older may be better.
