Well That a better title but anyway as i was reading on the fourms of the other people they had said something about the x64 bit software that you would have downloaded to get that message but well i don't have to software downloaded it downloaded the 32bit software and im still getting the same message "This Kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only decteced an i 686 CPU. Unable to boot-please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

?? Im Confused and Lost..
And being a newb to Ubuntu is bad
And i really like the OS because i use to use it on my Main Computer. I just don't understand why it wont install on my Laptop

does this machine have windows on it? if so check in control panel, device manager, settings or administration, or somewhere in there it will tell you the specs of the machine. something is fishy there for sure.

you can also download Knoppix, it is a great troubleshooting live cd and will be able to show the specs of the machine when booted.

you will have to check in the knoppix menu, settings or something like that, its easy to find.

you can also try googling the main board, or processor info if you have it,
