Hello!
I have Ubuntu 8.10 and been thinking to replace onboard audio card with a pci simple one.
Simply disabling the onoard one an then inserting the new one will it make Ubuntu work?
Thank you!

yup, but disable the onboard in the bios first.

if on the next boot, Ubuntu does not enable support for the card, you can install Alsa

Thanks!
I will disable the onboard audio card, boot Ubuntu make its work then shutdown and install the new audio card. Will then boot again and logically Ubuntu will use the new audio card.
