Ok well i am getting an error everytime i install Ubuntu Linux on my laptop. It starts up it Hit Englsih --> Install Ubuntu --> and i get a error that states This kernel reqiores am x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernael appropriate for your CPU.

Got it at the webstie above and its selected at 32 bit.
btw i have a hp pavilion ze2315us.

You apparently do not have a 64 bit cpu (Intel or AMD). Download or get the ubuntu 32 bit version (ie Ubuntu-8.10-desktop). The advantages of one over the other are academic unless you have a multi-core CPU or greater than 4Gb or ram memory.

WEll i did select the 32 bit and i tried to install both of them on my laptop and it still gives me the same message
I have a Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor
1GB of System Memory
35 GB Hard Drive

early searching indicates you may have to use a early release of ubuntu with this processor,
is it in a packard bell? what is the motherboard, pc manufacturer?

I'm not sure about the 3000+ but can confirm that the Sempron 3200+ in my compaq machine (made by HP) is capable of running 64-bit Ubuntu
