View Full Version : CAD support in Linux?

Has anyone using ubuntu successfully installed lx-viewer, which allows reading and converting of dwg and dxf files? I tried, following directions on the lx-viewer site, and failed. Of course, I don't really know what I'm doing, although I can read and follow directions. Either they weren't adequate, or there are bugs.

A related question: what CAD software have you found to bet the most useful in ubuntu?

Qcad's good and simple for 2D. More complex 3D programs are: Open Cascade, Medusa4. Varicad.

theres heaps more.

CAElinux is also a really good linux distro that runs from liveCD. It has a host of engineering packages.
