Try the Live Cd first and see if all works.
Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex 64bit works beautifully on my
Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz
GSkill DDR2 8Gig
Asus 9600GT Video Card
160Gig Sata Hard Drive

You will have issues getting your ATI card to work with proper drivers for sure, nvidia is still a better choice for linux.
For your motherboard try to find other users running ubuntu on it, for sure the best way to know how well it is supported bu ubuntu.

If you want to use all 6Gb of memory you should use the 64 bit Ubuntu version as the 32bit will only use about 3.2Gb.

Where are you buying the parts from?
How much does it cost altogether?
