I'm having a slight, yet annoying problem in ubuntu 8.10. All of a sudden my desktop icon's are not showing up, nor will it allow me to display the "computer" or "trash" icons on the desktop. I've gconf-editor and made sure the "display desktop" is checked in the nautilus preferences, and also have checked the "show trash" and "show computer" options in nautilus desktop. I'm not sure but I think installing desklets may have something to do with this, as my desktop icon's were always visible before I installed, however I have never been able to get ubuntu to show the trash or computer icons. I've got some screenshots here for visual reference as any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED
Nautilus wasn't running, simply had to configure sessions to start nautilus on startup.
