i want to install either ubuntu 8.04 or 8.1 on top of the existing ubuntu 7.1 on my system.how do i do this with a cd..
plz detail about how to organize the partitions..
and is gtk+ and gtkmm available on ubuntu 8.04 and 8.1?

For starters, Ubuntu releases are date specific. It's 8.10 and 7.10 (Both October releases).

There is no direct upgrade path from 7.10 to 8.10. You can upgrade form 7.10 to 8.04, either using the Internet or the alternate install CD.

Boot the CD, run the installation program, when you get to the partitioner, choose 'Manual' and point the installer to 7.10's partition.

k..i managed to install 8.1..
now der is no existing package for gtkmm..
gtk+ is available..
how do i install gtkmm
