Hi,

I am looking for something really trivial - which might just round of my desktop.

I would like a nice analog clock somewhere in one corner - something simple which would look like a train station clock of old.

Possible? Can anybody give me a hint where and how to start?

Thank you!

You could use a theme for the cairo clock screenlet.

Turnarround time: 2 minutes....impressive.

Thanks for the link -I'll have a good look at it.

My idea would be something like that or even going further into the 50's style.

For the cairo clocks - do I need to have cairo installed for this?

I think I found screenlets in the add-remove programs

It should be in accessories --> screenlets, one of them is named cairo clock

You already have Cairo if you are using Gnome desktop (as Gnome uses Cairo for font rendering, PDF printing and quite many other graphics tasks).

However you'll need to have Compiz (the "desktop effects") or some other compositing manager running for cairo-clock to work properly.

By the way, If you don't want to install Screenlets but only the clock, Cairo-clock is also available as it's own program (the screenlet was later made based on the original Macslow's Cairo Clock). As far as I know both the standalone Cairo-clock and the screenlet should use same themes.

Second the screenlets option if you're just looking for a clock widget.
