I have tried gDesklets and Screenlets. Screenlets seemed better, but even though I went to Gnome Look.org there still wasn't a whole load of skins for clocks etc.

Am I just not looking in the right spot? Anyway, I have done a search and not found much, what other desktop widget apps. are out there?

Cheers!

The most promising that seems to be in active development is KDE4's plamoids, now if only the rest of KDE4 would begin to improve :D
I like KDE4's plasmoids, perhaps the only real thing going on for it.

Thanks, I will look into it.

I have just seen a lot of nice looking widgets on some screenshots, and not seen them avaible at Gnome Look or anywhere like that.

google has a desktop widgets thing going on and there is plasmoids (kde only).

The best thing on gnome now is screenlets.

Unless you go hardcore and use conky instead.

So I can't run this in Gnome? Bugger.... I tried Screenlets and it was nice, but I couldn't find any of the clock faces that I have seen in screens.

Looks good.

EDIT: I just found a crapload of themes for Clock. *facepalm*

Is there any way for Plasmoids to run in Gnome?

I dont think so, but you can run superkaramba, supeerkaramba is a KDE project that can run in Gnome

Thanks. I'm just confused as to where everyone else has got the cool clocks, as I can't seem to find similar ones anywhere.

In screenlets, try perfectclock for linux, it's got a variety of skins available.

You can run Plasma on top of Gnome, you just have to have KDE4 installed as well.

Just run

plasma

in the terminal, and it should start up.

For anyone interested, I have a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBZI2KLAR4M) up of Plasma running in conjunction with Gnome.

That's pretty damn cool man. When I type Plasma in the Terminal it opens up Kubuntu Dekstop of the top of ubuntu.... ??

I chose to ignore that on the basis that I've actually seen guh-nome suggested as the official pronuncation

It runs Plasma on top of Gnome, but it's still a Gnome sesssion. You can delete the KDE panel (might be gone in your KDE session then, too, if you use the same user account for both desktops) and you'll have "Knome".

You can also run Gnome's panels on top of KDE.

If that's a reasonable thing to do is another story. ;)

I'm running KDE 4.2.2 + QT 4.5 and it's pretty slick. :)
