View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can I install 8.10 over 7.10 from liveCD?

I have the liveCD (386 desktop) but not the alternate CD and I'd like to replace the old 7.10 system on this thinkpad T40 without disturbing the /home directory or the XP system in the other partition.

Can that be done with the liveCD?

No, unfortunately.

When you install intrepid over gutsy, you probably need to format the partition which means it will wipe out everything on it. So, better to backup your personal files first. Otherwise, you can create a separate /home partition before you install intrepid.
