Why did 6.06 break the 6-month release cycle?

What happened that made Dapper late by two months?

I believe there was a delay as it was the first to use the LTS designation.

dapper was the best of the best. i move we do this for ALL LTS releases

I helped test Dapper. There was some serious bugs that really needed fixed so they took an extra few weeks to iron it out. Dapper was hugely different from Breezy so needed alot more done to get it working properly.

I ran Dapper from the start, lovely, very stable, only trouble I had was the upgrade to X which killed Gnome for two hours, I only upgraded last month to Hardy because Dapper finishes in June. Sadly missed, good old workhorse. Rest in peace old girl, you've earned it.

Dapper was a pretty good release. I too think that all LTS releases should have the same delay for extra bugfixes and to allow more release software into the distro (as opposed to the "release candidates" that often get put into Ubuntu due to time constraints).
