I wrote a mini overview of the new Rekonq for KDE 4.x. It's extremely fast (at everything, from opening, to rendering and tab changes).

It worths a look at. The article isn't very detailed, since it doesn't have many option yet:

Rekonq (http://introducingkde4.blogspot.com/2009/04/mini-overview-rekonq.html)

Or at Planet KDE (http://planetkde.org/)

Hope you like it.

Looks like a neat browser for KDE 4 fans.

Well, Arora which Rekonq is based on handles Flash fine with Qt4.5...I'd be more curious about theming issues-since Oxygen in Arora is broken with Arora 0.6....I'll have to try it from AUR...

I'm running a 64-bit OS, dunno about Hulu, it hates Mexicans XD, but vimeo with HD ON works well, so as Fullscreen.

Does any one have checked it on dark coloured theme as I've heard fonts are not contrasting enough and it makes it difficult to read.

It has problems with dark color schemes, that's true.

I don't see any problem with oxy though.

Yep, it's great. I'm would love to see it replacing Konqui.

Well for Alpha software is QUITE good.

The Skripka Verdict?

Not So Fast.

Pros: Adblocking via Proxy is great and works like it should. Flash works fine. Speed at Google V8 benchmark is just as fast as Arora. Takes native Qt widget theme fine-something Arora 0.6 cannot do until KDE4.3 comes out. AND-Stop/Refresh buttons are ALL ONE ICON!!!! Something Konqueror still doesn't do.

Cons: No restoring tabs after app crash...no session management at all-same flaws here as Konqueror. That is a biggie right there for me. Bookmark import/export is there-but buried.

A great start-if it had session management available-even restoring tabs after crash-I'd use it.

It's alpha soft, it will eventually get those, but it's quite good in it's current state (Konqueror recovers from crashes) and why do you mean by session management?

Konqueror versus Arora 0.6 default skin (it won't load Oxygen by default short of terminal command) and Arora 0.6 Oxygen...

What I mean-Let us say I "accidentally" close my browser. I had 10 tabs open, and I cannot remember what they were. MOST browsers will restore those tabs when the browser is restarted. Or on login/logout-same deal.

Konqueror will only do this if it was not closed on logout....and then on login will restore the session....or when it crashed.... But if you accidentally close Konqueror-it will not restore your tabs when you open Konqueror again.

I was kind ;) -it *is* alpha, I know it-and it is a very good start, for a 0.0.4 release. Since it is a Webkit browser, and based on Arora, it should be VERY good in the future :)

True, you meant like Firefox with the "save".

I know, I wasn't trying to make you feel attacked, I didn't understand what you meant, that's all XD.

Rekonq seems well here :/ (I'm looking to it side by side using oxygen), however, I'm using KDE 4.3 trunk, so we're probably experiencing different behaviors.

Oxygen is "fixed" in KDE4.3....but Arora won't do Oxygen until you use KDE4.3--and KDE4.3 stable won't be out for 2-3 months
