I realize that there's probably a really simple fix to this, and i apologize for the rather simple nature of this question, but here's my problem. Somehow i've turned my double click off, and my files and folders have all become links, and only one click will open them. How do i turn this off?

Maybe you enabled "Dwell Click"?

System/Preferences/Mouse Accessibility tab.

Nope, dwell click is off.

Nope, dwell click is off.

Do you have KDE installed as well?

Did you use KDE at some point before this started happening?

I vaguely remember seeing that option on the KDE "System Settings" tool. I just don't know where that setting is in gconf for metacity (Gnome window manager).

I've never used KDE before, i've only got KDEsvn installed, and i don't really know how that would affect anything. Couldn't find anything under compiz settings manager or under gconf editor.

Bring up the file browser (Nautilus).

Go to Edit > Preferences.

Click the Behavior tab.

Select the double-click option.
