Maximize window & AWN overlap

I'm running awn-trunk and Gnome on Kubuntu Intrepid and i want to know if anyone knows of a setting to keep a maximized window from maximizing the height completely. Over the weekend I reinstalled everything but on my prior installation, a maximized window did not go behind th AWN bar, but right now the AWN bar is on top of the bottom portion of the window. This interferes with any use of the bottom portion of the window.

Attached is a screenshot to show what is going on. I want the window border to maximize to the outside of the scope of the awn bar.

You'll have to write code to do it, or get the Avant author to do so.
