View Full Version : [ubuntu] Upgraded to 8.10 with problems

April 2nd, 2009, 12:11 PM
Upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 last night and my first impressions are rather mixed. To be frank, I wish I stayed with 8.04.

I check my emails several times a day and the computer is turned off in between, so I need the Suspend facility and I lost it on upgrade. It will go into Suspend but will not come out of it unless I reboot and that is slow.

I think that the problem is that my screen display is not recognized - big box in Monitor Resolution shows "Unknown" and clicking on Detect Displays does not work. So, when I press the power button to come out of Suspend the screen pilot continues to blink, indicating No Signal.

My graphics card is NVidia GeForce 6100 n Force430

Without Suspend I would rather be in Windows, so any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
