Hello to you all!):P

I'm a new member and a new user of KUBUNTU 7.10(GUTSY GIBBON). I found some packages on the internet, such like mp32ogg, mplayer, etc... but each time I try to install those packages, it tells me that I must have some other packages installed before... and even if I want to install those packages, they require other packages, so now I'm a bit tired. My question now is, isn't some packages that are kind of universal? I mean packages that most of other packages require, so that I can install them now and avoid those tedious messages:mad:

Why did you install 7.10? Support for Gutsy finishes in 2 weeks. Maybe you should update before spending time in your new system.

what do you mean by support? does it means that in two weeks it won't work any longer?

No more security updates, nor more normal updates, no more backports. Also repositories usually get deleted, so you wont be able to install new packages.

updating means downloading a new kernel and installing it?

You need to do a full upgrade via internet:
