A tad organized... I mostly program in Python and C++. I also use multiple windows/buffers *a lot*. What really helps is the <Ctrl>+[J/K] to switch buffer up/down and the changing the cwd to the current buffer is really convenient. (allows you to type :new <file>) and only have to know the relative path to the file you're currently working on.

In my ~ubuntu/.vimrc file (looks like):
:map ^P !}fmt -80
where ^P is a single control character inserted using Ctrl-^-P, i.e. press and hold down the CTRL-key and then press in sequence the '^' character followed by 'P'.

The allows you to reformat long lines into 80 character lines by positioning the cursor to the start of the long line and then pressing Ctrl-P followed by Enter.
