Black Screen

Hello

I have tried isntalling Ubuntu 8.10 in a DELL Vostro computer, but for some reason when it stops filling the orange bar the monitor goes to power saving mode, as if nothing is connected.

Any idea how to overcome this problem

I've been having this problem after installing a new video card.. when you boot off the cd, go into modes, and select safe video first.. then go to install.. that may help you.
