hi I enabled the nvidia 3d driver and on rebooting screen hung on a blank screen. How do I disable the nvidia driver?

I think that nvidia driver support in ubuntu 8.10.
But your monitor doesn't support resolution during booting.
You must understand the resolution of your monitor.

Repair from the grub boot screen. (You know, it gives you options of kernels to boot from) If it puts you in low graphic mode download a program called envy.

There are very detailed instructions on the page in order for you to install the drivers. This program should fix your issue. It does everything you need, builds the kernel install driver etc. This is the best way to install graphic card drivers when you run into issues like this.
