Well, I picked up this poweredge for a serious bargain. Single xeon 1.8, 1gig ram, 6x 18gig 2x 36gig. My liveCD booted up and installed just fine, but when rebooted I got this message:

Boot from (hd0,0) reiserfs dc925706-d261-4760-99a6-9f4a5be35b60
starting up ...
[ 0.600031] ..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
[ 2.643524] serial 00:07 : unable to assign resources
[ 2.644159] serial 00:08 : unable to assign resources
Loading, please wait...
Gave up waiting for root device.
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/dc925706-d261-4760-99a6-9f4a5be35b60 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

PLEASE HELP! I don't want to be stuck with windows on this bad mama!

Still no bites... Weird. I am really getting sick of Fedora's quirks like random crashes and kernel errors. I would LOVE to have Ubuntu on this machine...

i have a home built server with a supermicro motherboard, showing the same error. It was working with ubuntu 9.04, but doesn't work with 8.04 - which i need for the highpoint raid card i'm using...

good luck.

I am trying to load the poweredge 4600 with ubuntu maverick as well, something wrong with the aic-7899 driver. I see it in the list but it doesn't load. I am stock!
