I recently bought a HP mini note. it came with SUSE which i decided i did not like, so searched for a way to install Ubuntu, i came across minibuntu - a 8.04 installation that is supposed to work out of the box with the HP mini notes. it did, however i broke the installation :( - cant remember how. and now want to install 8.10 on the device.
I have tried using this tutorial: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-ubuntu-810-install-from-windows-non-persistent/
to install and it works-ish.
Basically, it boots off the usb fine, presents me with the usuall menu, and if i hit, 'install' or 'try linux without any...' it shows me the ubuntu splash as normal, and then, when thats loaded i just get a black screen with a blinking '_' in the top corner, after 3 or so minutes, this disappers, and i get a series of multi-coloured charecters flash across the screen in a patern and then nothing. :S
