i've been using ubuntu 8.04 LTS for a while and it worked great. i thought of downloading ubuntu 8.1 and when i booted via cd and selected "try ubuntu without any changes" while ubuntu is loading it freezes inbetween and when i pressed alt+ctrl+del caps lock and scroll lock were splaching this happened even after trying "install ubuntu" option insted of trying it. when i googled it i came to know its due to "kernal panic" which is caused by hardware so i tried removing different components and found that when agp card is removed and moniter is connected to onboard vga option kernal does not panic while loading but screen turns black and the pointer does not move and i'am not even able to get into the virtual terminal as it does'nt respond.

here are my specifications:

pentium 4 1.5 ghz
mercury 845gv/845gl chipset
512mb ddr sd ram
geforce fx5200

is there any way i can install ubuntu 8.1?
thanks in adance.
