I have Edubuntu installed on a Dell Optiplex 745. I have 20 NTA thin clients that I purchased from DevonIT. I can access the Edubuntu box via XDMCP on the thin clients (Gnome desktop). However, I do not have sound. I understand that XDMCP is strictly for graphics, and that sound is not meant to work. Tech support at DevonIT pointed me toward information on ESD sound server and esddsp. I still can't figure out what to do to get sound going. Some of the applications on Edubuntu, such as Tux Type, will not work on the clients because sound isn't working. Any instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you using LTSP (aka MueKow), or some kind of XDMCP client built into the thin clients?

Yes, the thin clients allow you to create a "session". One of the choices is to create a XDMCP session. I've done this with Fedora also (Gnome), but sound didn't work there either.
