Hi,

I just tried to see if I can install Openoffice 3.x into Ubuntu 8.04. However, I notice that Openoffice 3.x is not available even after I enable backport. When I search the forum, I notice that most seemed to install without using the repository.

I am wondering:

1. Is Openoffice 3.x not available in the 8.04 backport?
2. If not, is there a scheduled time when it will be available?
3. How long does it typically take for a popular software to end up on backport? thanks.

I think it is unlikely you will ever see OO3 in the 8.04 repositories, however, it is very easy to install. :)

I used the launchpad ppa to install it. You can also download the debs from the OO website.

I thought that was what backport was for? If OO3 is not going to show up even in there?
