Ok I tried playing COD 4 demo using wine, it caused my desktop to crash and then took me to the login screen, I logged in and my desktop was screwed up. When I log in I cannot see the wallpaper or the taskbar, only a system monitor window and some other application that I was using when it crashed. I have compiz fusion enabled by defalt and I am using KDE 4.2 when logging in as well.
