I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 on a pc and the dot matrix printer (model MSP 250 from TVS) did not get installed automatically. It was switched on while the installation was happening, and in previous installations that I did, it got installed automatically.
I tried to install the printer via CUPS, via System|Administration|Printing using the following driver: Epson LX-1050. Printing a test page got the printer to react but not properly.
The printer works on the same machine from Windows XP, so it is not a hardware problem. It is connected via parallel port.
Does any of you know what driver to use for this printer?
A friend of mine suggested to try ls -l > /dev/lp0 in the shell.
Very grateful for suggestions...
