I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 on a pc and the dot matrix printer (model MSP 250 from TVS) did not get installed automatically. It was switched on while the installation was happening, and in previous installations that I did, it got installed automatically.

I tried to install the printer via CUPS, via System|Administration|Printing using the following driver: Epson LX-1050. Printing a test page got the printer to react but not properly.

The printer works on the same machine from Windows XP, so it is not a hardware problem. It is connected via parallel port.

Does any of you know what driver to use for this printer?

A friend of mine suggested to try ls -l > /dev/lp0 in the shell.

Very grateful for suggestions...

Hi, I'm also trying to get TVS250 printer to work properly with ubuntu 9.04, but the print still come off the the page margins. i'm using the ppd file I found on the tvs page (http://www.tvs-e.com/products-landing.asp) but no luck still. Is there any way to get sane printouts using a this printer on ubuntu. I have tried adjusting the settings through the printer configuration dialog but no luck yet. ](*,)
