I'm so (!!!) fed up with Flash that i want to try gnash, instead. I'd like to try the most current gnash version available, 0.8.5. , but Hardy has only 0.8.2 available in synaptic - a version the authors say is too out-of-date to work with youtube and most other streaming sites.

The URL I've been starting from for this:

http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/#downloading

I've completely uninstalled Flash, very carefully and completely. I even deleted and re-installed Firefox 3.0.7, just as carefully. I was hoping to add a "software source" to synaptic, because I assume that would make any future uninstall easier, but no joy with my attempts. I saw that the 0.8.2 version of gnash on Hardy's synaptic depends upon a couple of libboost packages, so I installed those via synaptic, and am hoping they'll suffice for version 0.8.5 as well.

I'd really appreciate your help!
