Install Ubuntu 8.10?

Friend of mine has an Acer Aspire 2930Z Pentium Dual-Core Laptop. With:
T3200 Processor 2.0GHz, IGB RAM and 160GB Hard-drive which is currently running Windows Vista Premium.

Could any of the more knowledgable forum members tell me of any problems likely to be encountered if Ubuntu 8.10 was to be installed?

1GB RAM for Vista will work but will be sluggish and slow.

Installing Ubuntu, on the other hand, will be a god send for your friend.

You should not encounter any problems and the installation process for 8.10 is so user friendly, I don't see where you could go wrong. It even offers to partition your disk for you, should you want to keep windows!
