Hi
I would like to start off by saying that I am completely new to Linux. I have tried a dual boot scenario with Xp/Kubuntu. My first attempt at installing Kubuntu (on a separate hard drive than XP) did not turn out great. Kubuntu froze on the splash screen. I then did some research and tried to install Kubuntu with an alternate CD. It finally installed it successfully, but when I try to boot it up it freezes on either the splash screen or the blank screen after that with the rotating 2 dots.
I must also note that I have not had any success install any other Linux distros either (linux mint, ubuntu, ubuntu using wubi, opensuse)
Here is what Im working with:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLi
Chipset: nVidia nForce4
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce 7600GT
1st Hard disk: SATA
2nd Hard disk: ATA/IDE
DVD/CD: Lite-ON DVDRW SHM-165H65
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to try out Linux but I am starting to think its not meant to be.
