Hi there guys,

Been a while since I was on here but was hoping for some help.

I have a new faster system so want to migrate data to this new server.

The old server had the OS on a 10gig drive (9.54GB parition) and the new server I'm wanting to software RAID and they're two 80Gig drives (each raid parition will be 78GB to allow 2GB swap RAID).

What I'd like to do is copy/clone the OS from the 10 Gig to the new RAIDed drives.

Can anyone suggest the best way for me to do this?

I thought of maybe running ubuntu 8.10 setup, getting it all ready for software RAID and then going to the terminal option within setup to copy stuff and have heard of DD but not sure how to use it as it appears if you clone the destination disk/partition needs to be exactly the same size and not sure if theres any quick workaround or just the best way to do this.

Thanks for looking at this and hope someone might be able to help.

Kind regards,
Neil
