Hi!

I'm new to Ubuntu.
I have installed KUbutnu 8.10 and I've some problems with it.

1. Firstly, I don't the root password.. How can I know it?
I don't remember that Ubuntu asked me about it.. :)
Maybe I can boot from LiveCD and I can reset the root password?

2. I don't have an internet connection on my machine but I need to install g++ (c++ compiler). So how can I tell to apt-get to give me an list of URLs that needed to install g++ with all dependencies?
Is there a way to do it?
I can download all dependencies from other computer and copy it all to my Ubuntu computer..

Thanks a lot!

The "root" password is just your usual user password; the one you use to login.

Ok. Thanks!

So.. is there a way to get a list of urls from apt-get for packages which I need to install?
I thinks g++ (gcc) needs a lot of packages I have to download..

Hi,
At least you managed to get your query posted. Can you tell me how to do that?? I seem to have created a new thread instead!

ocribin, I've posted a reply on your thread. You were correct to start your own thread.
