View Full Version : [ubuntu] nautilus' network manager is slow, often does not display shares

I've used ubuntu for several years, and I've discovered that mounting samba shares is... not consistently easy. clicking places>network always takes a very long time to bring a window up, and when it does, either opening "windows network" or one of the machines therein gives the error message:

Unable to mount location
unable to retrieve share list from server
opening an arbitrary folder and replacing the address with smb://192.168.1.69/share works well, so I'm not exactly stuck, but I'd like to know what the deal is with nautilus' network manager. Is this unexpected behaviour, or is nautilus just... not friends with samba?
