View Full Version : [ubuntu] Panel always overlaps windows

If I maximize a window, the bottom edge gets cut off because the panel at the bottom of my screen is overlapping it. The top panel is fine-- the top edge of the window stops at the edge of the panel.

Is there some way to configure this option? It's annoying because with programs like Firefox the status bar is completely hidden.

Set it to autohide?

Yeah, I really don't want to do that. I want the panel to be visible at all times-- I just want the bottom edge of the window to stop at the top edge of the panel when maximized.

And before anyone suggests, I don't want to remove the panel from the bottom of the screen.

I haven't used a bottom panel enough to suggest anything. The first thing I do is remove the bottom panel and set the top one to autohide. I don't have any spare screen space. There should be a setting somewhere to change the windows to be the proper size, but I haven't looked that closely.
