Hello,

I have installed KDE4 in my Ubuntu installation, it brings a panel by default located in the bottom edge of the screen.
I have changed one setting "Maximize this panel" however everytime I reboot the setting is lost.

How can I set it so that the settings are saved as default?

Thanks,

Paulo

During the install of KDE 4 you might not have gotten something installed that your panel needs to save settings. You should look up installing KDE 4 for your version of Ubuntu and re-install.

or The KDE panel is also known as Kicker. You might see it you can re-install Kicker.

Could it be a permissions issue instead?

kde desktop has much improved since 4.1.

what i noticed after upgrading to 4.2....

improved rendering, including panel icon rendering, widget settings stick well, faster load up and better system sounds, better response for wireless devices.....

so basically it works a heck of a lot better....

i have kubuntu by itself, in the past i tried kubuntu in a session, kde 4 wasn't ready then, however it is now..

you may be able to see much improvement by upgrading if you wish to "test" it.

i don't know what affects this cause on the ubuntu end !

to upgrade is rather simple using adept package manager

http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.2

in adept sources under updates tab i checked off unsupported then closed the sources dialog, adept then fetched the kde updates.
