FGLRX alpha blur appears grey (Compiz)

Focus blur works fine on my new Studio 15 which came with integrated ATI graphics. However alpha blur doesn't work and simply leaves the background of the window in question grey. Is this an unsupported on my card or in FGLRX or is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks.

I get this problem too, focus blur works great, but alpha blur just sets the background grey and doesn't blur.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 9.04. ATI Radeon HD 4200. It's rumored that support for alpha blur has been removed from the fglrx driver, but I can't confirm this.
