64 bit version says platform AMD64. Can (should?) :confused: I use it on my Intel machine?

Yes. AMD64 includes both intel and amd 64-bit systems.

x86 distributions are 32 bit.
x86-64 are 64 bit distributions.
64 bit distributions run on amd64 and intel with em64t instruction sets.

don't forget the army of libs in the 64bit environment
