I hav a doubt for a long time in my mind..

How many different OS can i install in my new 80 GB HDD?Is there any restriction in number of OS in HDD due to boot sector size?

For eg while installing Windows XP, Ubunut 8.10, Open Solaris all in HDD,is that possible to do that in Ubuntu 8.10 manual partition? If yes, how?

Where there is a will there is a way. If you really wanted to you could look into bootloader chaining, this allows you to boot from virtual partitions, effectively allowing unlimited number of OSes to be installed.

How many and which OSes do you actually want to install? Are any OSes already on the drive or is it clean? And by "manual partition" I assume you mean the manual partition option when you run the ubuntu install cd?

Here are some links about grub and partitioning that might help.

Thanks for reply Odemia. Those links were really awesome. Thanks for that too..

Those three OS i have access to now.My HDD is clean.Yes i am talking about the manual partition option in Ubuntu Live CD..

If i have to use 40 Gb for Windows, 20 Gb for Ubuntu and remaining for Solaris.I just thought of giving a try.

But dont know how to do partition efficiently?
