help with DVB-S card

I just recieved a second-hand hauppauge WinTV-DVB-S card and i am trying to use it with mythbuntu 8.10.

The card is recognised and i am able to add it as an input but when i try to scan for channels i get the popup message "Error parsing parameters"

how can i go about troubleshooting?

Were you doing a Full Scan or Scan from Transport?

I found that the full scan simply did not work. When I changed the scan type to read the transport list, it worked.

But then when I tried to re-produce this on another motherboard, I got the same error you are describing.
