Hi All,

I have just started my entry in the wonderful world of Ubuntu and open source. However I have a problem.

I updated the older version of Open Office, that came with Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex; so I am now running the latest version. However - I have noticed that there is no Open Office Base installed with this?! It is greyed out in the Suite Overview and I am unable to call it in terminal..

Anyone with a pointer how to include that?

I just install Open Office Base from the repositories using Synaptic, it sounds like you don't have some dependencies installed. Have you installed openoffice.org-java-common? There are a lot of openoffice components that depend on it.

No I had not :o)
Also when I had a look in Synaptics again this morning I realized that openoffice.org-base was not installed either :os (bloody newbie)

I ticked that and the java-common off and now it is all working!

Thanks,
