hello all, I a relative novice at this and so i'm in need of help.
The problem is that i have an Ubuntu desk top custom that i built for fun and was perfectly happy till Christmas when for a gift received a 1tb sata hard drive, which i preceded to install and subsequently found could not access due to limited permission. Now the problem is after trying to find the code and change it through the terminal, but still no luck. please if anyone who can give advice it will greatly appreciated thank you.

A little more information would be helpful.

What is the actual problem, is it that you can't write to the parition?
How did you format the drive?
Is the drive mounting automatically on startup?
Do you know which one of those devices it is? Presumably sda1 or sdb1, not your swap partition?
