UBUNTU 8.10 desktop Edition installation

I want to install this on my slave drive .

I was told pop in the CD and go through the steps .

There is no steps .

It goes through a buch of number and next to some it says failed .

How do i get this set up in my slave drive ?

Ok , first it may or may not be relevant .

If I boot from the original CDR drive , it won't read .

I been using my DVD rom , but thought I'd try the CDR ROM .

Ok now .

As I said , I select .

Install Ubuntu
Bar goes back n Forth
I get a 136.116048 line then the numbers continue on down
I ge CD ROM error, Exeption-frozen,i/o error,Buffer i/o error ,logical block,drive Sr1 in some of the lines .

I just shut down , reboot and take the CD out .
