Actually, I thought the setroot just was for making a background for a window, and the program to make .edj files was for wallpapers. Unless maybe there's been a recent update? At any rate, your program produced an .edj file, I'm going to try it out later.

Yes it produces a edj file from a static jpg, if you wanna try it out:
