i'd make those thumbnails a bit bigger so you can at least see some of the text within menus. i just did a quick look, but looks good to me other than that.

I second pwnst*r. A well writen guide for the complete beginner :D. What I would like to see is a subtopic that discusses how to remove ******* from dual boot once a user has completely fallen in love with Ubuntu (which is inevitable) and does not find a need to have Windows anymore.

Once again, a very good guide.

You should mention that users might have to change the boot order in the BIOS in order to boot from the CD. Don't provide instructions for doing this. Instead, tell the users to look it up in the documentation of whoever made their computer.
Of course, you should mention that a restart is needed before you can boot from anything.
Warn users to defragment before attempting to modify their Windows partitions! This is important! Also, tell them that backing up isn't a bad idea either.

Otherwise, it's a good guide.

I was wondering whether you felt that the official documentation was some how incomplete ???

Nope. I didn't feel that way at all but I did feel it's "too much". For a newbie to install Ubuntu they don't exactly need something that technical. It's simple; they want to install Ubuntu. Not know how Ubuntu came to be and what not. I feel that the guide you just linked is great to further learn about the installation of Ubuntu but my guide is more suited for newbies or even people who just want to get something done.:p
