Help with wine!!!

I have ubuntu 8.10 intrepid and i am manually installing packages from this computer to my other computer with ubuntu this has xp. I installed samba-common to fill in the dependencies for winbind and when i did i cant uninstall it to try and reinstall it so i was wondering if there was a command to put into the terminal to uninstall the package :popcorn:

And why the heck your manually installing it? Oppose to simply using Synaptic to install this stuff?
