Is there any way to make Ubuntu/Gnome load wallpapers from specific folders (or a specific folder)?

Hi sekinto.

Click system> preferences> appearance> background.

Click add.You will be able to choose from your pictures folder, or any other one.

Click on the one you want, and click open.

This will save this background to this folder, and you can choose it from here.

This really doesn't answer my question.
I wanted to know if there was a folder that was routinely checked for new backgrounds or if it was possible to make one so I would not have to click the add button and select my backgrounds every time I wanted to update them. If there was such a folder I could delete that folder and then put a link there under the same exact name pointing to the folder where I keep all my backgrounds (~/Images/backgrounds). I guess I could write a script to automatically check what files are in my backgrounds folder and add them to ~/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml, but I didn't want to have to do that if there was an easier way which was why I asked this question. So is there a folder in ~/ that is checked for new backgrounds or is there a way to make one?

Would wallpaper-tray (http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/wallpaper-tray) be a solution for you?

You could use xml-wall. Check this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=798634)
