I am using 8.10 on a Lenovo X200s and have found it very helpful to upgrade my kernels to the latest available in intrepid-proposed. I am wondering if there is any particular convention associated with the numbering. For example, I am currently running 2.6.27.13.16 and I see that 2.6.27.14.17 is now available. Is 14.17 a superset of 13.16, or is it possible that 14.17 would have reversions relative to 13.16?

I note that major releases (in 8.10 anyway) seem to be odd-numbered: 26.7, 26.9, 26.11).

Thanks. I googled and searched the forums and couldn't find anything on this (perhaps because there's nothing to find).
