I have the CD for ubuntu 8.04, but now I have a new computer and need 8.1. I downloaded the .iso, burned it as an image to a disc, and when I try to do any option it says it is unable to use the disc. I just grabbed some random blank disc, does it matter what type? should I format the ubuntu 8.04 cd and burn the iso to that?
Thanks.

Usually burning the ISO as a disk image to a CD-R is sufficient.

Some information on burning disks can be found here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto).

Just use a standard CDR (not a CDRW) and choose the slowest burn setting you can and it should work. Unless of course you managed to download the DVD version instead.

Ya it's a CD-R.
I used Roxio to burn it. Should I DL something else?

Alright thanks. I'll bump this topic if I'm still having problems.
