I am preparing a disk on key for students and I need to install/remove programs. I am very familiar with linux but only a beginner with ubuntu. I installed ubuntu 8.10 and it boots fine.

My problems are as follows:

1. The disk on key is 4gb. I started to install kdevelop with all the modules. It started to download and install but it didn't finish due lack of space. How can I remove the files that were already were downloaded? Where is their location?

2. Some of the programs that I installed don't appear in the menu. How can I add the programs in the menu? For instance ocaml or others.

3. The pc with the ubuntu dok is not connected to the net. I have other pc that is connected to the net. I would like to download to the connected the pc the file, transfer it to the non connected pc (via usb key) and then use apt-get install package. My question is in which location I should put the file so that apt-get install will know to use it and install the package.

Thanks in advance
