Hi, I recently picked up an old Toshiba 1.1 GHz PIII/512MB/20GB Satellite laptop to put Linux on. I have some concern about loading on this machine; is it possible to install Gnome apps on an XFCE installation like Xubuntu?

yes, you can run any application on any desktop or window manager.
